SMS credit
SMS credit lets you send text messages to the people on a form's participant list, each with their own personal link. It is prepaid credit, separate from your subscription.
Why it matters
Many of the people you work with read text messages long before they read email. Texting a personal link reaches them on the phone they already carry, and each link is tied to one person, so you know who has answered and who still needs a reminder.
How it works
- Credit is prepaid and bought in packs. It never expires and does not renew with your subscription.
- It is sold to accounts with at least one paid service.
- Everyone on the account can see the balance on the SMS Credit screen. Only an account administrator can buy more.
- Open it from Services, from the Usage screen, or from the Add SMS credit link wherever your balance is too low.
Send texts to participants
Texts go to the participants of a form:
- Open the form's Participants page. Each participant needs a mobile number in international form, such as +970 59 000 0000.
- Click Text all not invited, or the text button on one participant's row.
- Edit the message. The personal link is added for you.
- Before sending, check the estimate: People to text, message parts each (with the link), estimated cost and the SMS credit available.
Each text carries a fresh personal link. Any link that person was sent before stops working.
Warning Text all not invited texts everyone with a mobile number who has not answered yet, including people you already invited. They each get a new link and their earlier one stops working. Check People to text before you send.
What a text costs
You pay per message part, at the price for the country of each number.
- A message in English letters fits 160 characters in one part.
- A message with Arabic letters, or any emoji, fits only 70 characters per part. The same sentence can cost about twice as much in Arabic.
- The link counts towards the length.
Tip Keep invitations short. Removing one sentence can save a whole part on every text you send.
When credit runs low
- You are warned when 80% and then 90% of your latest top-up has been used.
- Sending stops when the balance cannot cover the next text. If you send to a group, texts go out while credit lasts and the rest are skipped.
- A text is charged only when it is actually sent. If sending fails, the charge is returned.
People who reply STOP
If someone replies STOP (or a similar word) to your text, their number is blocked and no more texts are sent to it. If they reply START, texts can reach them again.
