Review and approve translations
Machine translation can get a question wrong. A mistranslated question changes what you're actually asking, and every answer to it then measures something else. That's why Pulseform never shows a translation to respondents until you approve it.
How approval protects your respondents
| The language is | Respondents |
|---|---|
| Translated, not approved | Can't see it. They see the survey in its original language |
| Approved | Can choose it, on the public link and in Collect |
| Approved, then new text translated | Can't see it again until you re-approve |
Review a language
- Open the survey's Settings and click Review now, or Review & edit.
- The Review Translations screen opens. Choose the language at the top.
- Each text appears next to its original: the survey title, each question, and each option.
- Read each translation against the original. Correct any wording directly in the box.
Tip Ask a native speaker of that language to do the review if you can. The goal is that the question means exactly the same thing in both languages.
Approve
When everything reads correctly, click Save & approve.
The language now shows Approved - respondents can choose this language, and appears to respondents straight away.
If you only want to save your corrections and approve later, click Save.
Withdraw an approval
To stop offering a language, open it on the review screen and click Withdraw. Respondents go back to seeing the survey in its original language, and your translation stays saved for later.
Your corrections are kept
Wording you correct is not overwritten the next time you click Translate now, as long as you don't change the original text of that question. If you do change the original, that text is translated again and needs your review.
Note Project names can appear in surveys. The review screen tells you when a text belongs to the project, because editing it changes it for every survey in that project.
