Collect data in the field, even with no internet

Give each member of your field team a code. They open the Collect app on a phone or tablet, link it once with a connection, and then fill in your survey or form anywhere. Answers wait on the device and are sent when it is back online, each one linked to the person who collected it.

What does the Collect app do?

Works without a connection

After linking, collectors open the survey or form, fill it in, save drafts and mark answers ready to send with no connection. Required questions, number ranges and skip logic are checked on the device.

One code per collector

The supervisor issues an access code for each collector, for one survey or form. Collectors need no account, and every answer is linked to the person who collected it.

Sent when back online

When the device reconnects, the app sends everything waiting. Sending twice never creates duplicates.

Quotas per collector

Set the most answers one collector may send. Answers beyond it are refused but stay on the phone, so nothing is lost; the collector can export them as a CSV file for you to import.

Follow your team

The codes list shows how many answers each collector has sent, when their device last synced, refused answers, and who has been silent for two days or more.

Installs like an app

Collect opens in the phone's browser and can be installed to the home screen. A lost phone is unlinked from the codes list, and the same code links a new one.

Go to the field in three steps

  1. 1 Open the survey or form, choose Field Collector Codes, and issue a code for each collector.
  2. 2 Each collector opens the Collect app, types the code and links the device while connected.
  3. 3 Collect anywhere; answers are sent when the device is back online and appear in your results with the collector's name.

Frequently Asked Questions

Linking the device with a code the first time, sending answers, and changing the survey's language. Everything else works offline.
Not yet. A form with a file upload field, a date rule based on today or another field, a duplicate check, or invitation-only access cannot be given to field collectors. The codes screen tells you which field blocks it.
No. You confirm this when issuing the code. A field answer that does not fit its pattern is kept and marked for you to review; required questions and number ranges are still checked.
The server checks each answer in order. Answers up to the quota are accepted, the rest are refused and stay on the phone under Drafts, where the collector can export them as a CSV file.
